As the first semester comes to an end, take time to reflect on your learning and growth in this course. In a well-developed response, explain what you enjoyed most about the class, identify the project or assignment you found most engaging, and discuss which aspect of the course you connected with the most (such as poetry, fiction, writing, or discussion). Finally, reflect on one area where you feel you need additional support or improvement as we move into the spring semester.

Prompt: The thing I enjoyed the most in class was the cultural mask. An assignment I found the most engaging is this current one. An aspect of this class that I connected to was the poetry because a lot of the messages in the poems correlated with me. One area of this class that I need to improve on is studying before taking my test. Summary: We worked on our project and did our blog post. Reflection: Learned more about being black in America.

Many holidays center around traditions. Describe one tradition that is important to you or your family and explain why it still matters (or why it no longer does).

Prompt: One tradition that is important to my family is all sitting together and eating for Thanksgiving. It still matters because its the only time of the year where everyone gets to spend time together. People from all over the country come for Thanksgiving to spend time with the family. It's a really amazing time of the year. Summary: Did our blog post, then worked on project. Reflection: Learned more about the concepts of America.

How have the holidays changed as you have grown older? Compare your experiences of the holidays during childhood with how you experience them now, focusing on shifts in perspective, responsibilities, or emotional meaning.

Prompt: The holidays have gotten more bland over the years. When I was a little kid it seemed so magical but now that I've grown up, my expectations for the holidays has went down. The holidays still mean a lot to me because I get time off from school and get to spend time with loved ones. I still look forward to holidays every year. Summary: Worked on exercise 2-4, while writing 15 sentences for the 15 words, then did our blog post.  Reflection: Learned 15 new words today.

Write about something you’ve outgrown but still miss.

Prompt: Something I've outgrown but still miss is Hot Wheel cars. I miss them because they're nostalgic to me, I used to play with them a lot doing my childhood. I eventually stopped playing with them in 5th grade. I find myself thinking about them every once a month. Summary: We took a vocabulary test, then analyzed a poem. Reflection: I learned about more concepts of America.

Write about something that you can't stop thinking about.

Prompt: Something I can't stop thinking about is Christmas Break. The reason i can't stop thinking about it is because i'm looking forward to it so much. I get a two week break from school, while being able to hang out with my friends and girlfriend. I also get to train to prepare for the second half of the basketball season. Summary: Review our poems for our final. Reflection: I learned about concepts of America.
