Write about a time when you realized you needed to look out for yourself in a silly or harmless situation—maybe dodging a pop quiz, escaping a group chat argument, or remembering at the last second to submit an assignment. How did choosing wisely make your life easier?

Prompt: A time I realized I needed to look out for myself was when I stayed up last night to finish my work for this class. It helped me because I better understood the test today. The last scene forces readers to reinterpret Emily’s entire life. Write about a moment when new information changed your perception of a person or situation. How did that “plot twist” reshape your understanding, the same way Faulkner’s ending reshapes the story?

prompt: A moment when new information changed my perception of a person. Was when I found out my old girlfriend cheated on me. Just like the ending of "A Rose for Emily" makes readers interpret Emily's whole life, that "plot twist" helped me understand why she did some of the things she did. That made no sense without context. Summary: Took a pop quiz on "A Rose for Emily", then did a blog post. Reflection: I learned to always stay prepared for the unexpected in class.

Prompt: The craziest news I ever heard about was when I was in middle school and I heard about my grandpa friend's son getting shot in the head because his friend was playing with a gun in the back seat of a car. This stood out to me because it could have been easily avoided if the son's friend wasn't playing with a gun. people were sad about it but they all said they son's friend shouldn't have been playing with a gun. This reveals that human's curiousity can be dangerous. Summary: Finished "A Rose for Emily", then answered discussion questions about it.  Prompt: A time I heard a word from lesson two outside of the classroom was when my teacher in 7th grade was talking about how the lands in Southeast Asia were arable. She used the word to show that you could plant crops on the land. The way she said it really made it easy to understand.  Summary: We worked on exercise 1, then did our blog post.  Prompt: While, growing up my mom forbid me from going up the hill. She did this because they were brothers who lived up there that had tried to break into one of my family's cars. They also tried to fight me on a different occasion. I'm thankful that my mom did this because I knew they had access to weapons. Summary: We read the "Rockpile", then did our roles in our group. Reflection: Learned how to find a true meaning of a quote from a story.

Words shape how we think, write, and interpret literature. Think about a time when learning a new word or understanding a specific term helped you better analyze a text, express an idea, or make your writing stronger.

Prompt: A time learning a word helped me better express my idea was when I learned what imbecile mean't. I used this word to show my friend how he was acting like a idiot.
