Prompt: As you grow older and face new experiences, what issue or topic do you think you'll have to stand up and debate most often, whether with friends, family, or society?

 Prompt: I think a topic I well have to debate most often with friends is that just because they feel a certain way about something I do doesn't I have to do it, the way they would want me to. I feel like this because I as i'm writing I remember times when they tell me certain things as if I should do it because they feel that way. I feel like once I communicate it to them it'll be fine though. Sorry for turning this in late King Rease. Summary: We took notes on argumentative essay then did our blog. Reflection: Learned how to create an argumentative essay.

Prompt: Write about a fear you have overcome.

 Prompt: A fear I overcame was going on roller coasters. I overcame this fear over the summertime, when me and my friend went on a trip to Dollywood. The first day, we were there I didn't ride anything and I regretted it. So the second day I rode one ride, then after that I wanted to ride the others. Then I rode the biggest ride in the park, which is actually a top ten ride. Summary: Today, we read a story and picked out the claims in it. Reflection: I learned how to create a counter claim.

Prompt: Write about a truth you were afraid to accept.

 Prompt: A truth that I was scared to accept was that I am lazy. This goes into multiple things such as Basketball and school. I don't work out nearly as much as I need to for basketball, when the season is right around the corner. I usually procrastinate when I should be doing my school work at school and at home. Doing these things became a habit for me and I've grown content with how things are. I realized that can't keep going like this. Summary: Today, we took notes on argumentative essay, we did on work sheet on the three rhetoric appeals, and we did our blog post. Reflection: I learned about the three rhetoric appeals.

Prompt: Write about a time when you were judged unfairly.

 Prompt: A time I was unfairly judged was when my mom got mad at me for not taking out the trash. She got mad at me for not taking out the trash when it wasn't full when I left the house. She said that I should've took it out earlier but it wasn't full before I left for school. She was also the one who had it filled while I was at school. Summary: Today we worked on a commonlit, then did our blog post. Reflection: I learned how to analyze text.

Imagine you are learning about Hispanic/Latino heritage for the very first time. What would you be curious to know about the traditions, foods, music, or celebrations?

 Prompt: If I was learning about it for the first time I would like to learn about the cuisine that they eat. I would like to learn about holidays they have that are different from our own. I like to learn if their school systems were any different from ours. I would also like to learn about their history. Summary: In class, we made our own cluster and took notes on making an introduction paragraph. Reflection: I learned how to write a thesis statement and an introduction paragraph.

Of today’s 15 vocabulary words, which three do you think you will use the most in your speaking and writing this semester? Explain why each word feels useful or powerful to you.

 Prompt: The three words I feel like I will use the most is Adroit, Aegis, and Aesthetic. I would use these words a lot while writing over the semester. I also think I will use these words while speaking because I knew these words beforehand. These words feel useful to me because I see myself using these words the most. Summary: We took notes on the steps in the writing process. Reflection: I learned how about the writing process and how to format a body paragraph.

In “The Interlopers” by Saki, Ulrich and Georg view each other as interlopers, outsiders intruding on their land and their lives. Think about a time when you felt like an interloper or when someone else felt out of place in your world. How did that situation affect relationships, emotions, or outcomes?

 Prompt: One time I felt out of place was when I was around a group of hood kids in my neighborhood. This situation made me grow more distant with the other kids in my neighborhood. I didn't really have any emotions about it I just knew that I didn't want to be around them. The outcome was I started coming outside less because I didn't want to be around the hood kids. Summary: Today, we worked on Commonlit and did a blog post. Reflection: I learned how to analyze a story.

Which learning method do you enjoy the most? Class discussions, worksheet work, or hands-on actvities. Select one and tell why.

 Prompt: I like learning by worksheet work. I like learning by doing this because it helps me understand what i'm doing quicker. It also is a faster way to have free time in class.  It also helps me store the information better than I would if I was using any of the other learning methods. Summary: Today, we finished our poem and work on our poem poster. Reflection: I learned how to add figurative language to a poem.

Which aspect of creating a poem do you enjoy the most? Tell what it is and explain why.

 Prompt: The aspect I enjoy the most of creating a poem is picking which two things i'm going to compare. I enjoy this the most because I'm able to compare something important in my life to my actual life. It's fun thinking about things in basketball I can use to reference real life. I'm excited for my poem its coming along well. Summary: Today, we learned about literal and figurative language, and worked on making a poem. Reflection: I learned how to make a poem.

Describe a single, specific incident that felt ridiculously bold or foolish. Ensure your response is vivid, concise, and captures the essence of absurdity.

 Prompt: A specific situation that felt ridiculously foolish was when I almost got kidnapped. I had came home off the school bus and I walked over to my door, it was locked. I had knocked on the door for about 5 minutes and nobody answered. My bus had already passed so I hitchhiked on to a stranger's car to get a ride to my school. Looking back on it I could've easily have been kidnapped that day. Summary: Today, we worked on analyzing a poem, then we did a blog. Reflection: I learned more about analyzing poems.

you are currently working on a soundtrack for selected Emily Dickinson poems. With that in mind, if asked to choose a song to describe your life right now, which song would you select and why?

 Prompt: A song I would use is "8am in Charlotte" by Drake. I would use this song because right now, i'm working hard before the basketball season. I feel like this song really represents my everyday life. I'm also working hard in various things like school work to make sure I have all A's and working hard to become homecoming prince. Summary: Today, in class had a assessment, then after we reviewed it, and worked on class work from the previous day. Reflection: I learned what  a slant rhyme was.

If you were to compose a poem about one aspect of your life, which topic would it fall into and what would your overall life's message be?

 If I could compose a poem about one aspect of life it would be about Basketball. It would be about Basketball because basketball has been a significant part of my life for about 5 years now. My overall life message would be to keep working hard no matter what anyone says. I made this my overall life message because while I've been playing a lot of people talked down about me and I had to work through it. Summary: Today, we worked on matching songs with Dickinson's poems. Reflection: I learned how to identify themes and messages in literature.

You’ve been in American Literature for 4.5 weeks now. How has the class been going for you so far?

 Prompt: This class has been going pretty good. The previous weeks before, I wasn't really locked in. I had some time to think over the week over what type of student I wanted to be and it really helped. So I would say pretty good so far. Excited for the next few weeks in this class. Summary: We analyzed 3 poems and also started working on this assignment where we match songs with the poem. Reflection: Today, I learned how to use the world play of a poem to help me analyze it.

Describe one thing that makes you different from other people.

 Prompt: One thing that makes me different from other people is my music taste. I said my music taste because I listen to a lot of different genres. My favorite genre is probably Alternative/indie. This is my favorite genre because its the genre of my favorite band Chase Atlantic. I also like RandB a lot. Summary: I wasn't here this Friday. Reflection: I wasn't here this Friday.
